Sohan Halwa is a traditional Persian sweet. It is made by boiling a mixture of water, sugar, milk and corn flour until it becomes solid. Saffron is used for flavoring. Ghee is used to prevent it from sticking to the pan. Almonds, pistachios and cardamom seeds are added.
Ajmer is famous for its Desi Ghee Sohan halwa, a local sweet specialty, is sold near the Dargah and at the market.
As you walk the streets that lead to the Chishti Dargah, you'll spot several shops selling the city's fabled sohan halwa.
